If you think it’s easy to train yourself in the art of calligraphy, you’re dead fucking wrong.
It’s frustrating, tedious, long, and it can end up being painful. You’re constantly criticizing yourself: Saying your strokes aren’t as smooth as they should be, that you put too much pressure here but not enough there, that whatever you wrote just looks awful. You never think the work you’ve made is quality, no matter how many praises you get for whatever you’ve written.
But then you remember that calligraphy is a dying art, and that not too many are taking the time to learn its beauty. You remember that you didn’t start it for anyone but yourself. That it was something you were curious about. That it takes time to master, and nothing can be perfected.
